Make a Wish Come True

Blogging has granted a lot of wishes for me this year.  Left Brain Craft Brain is just seven months old, but since day one it’s been an amazing gift for me, more than I ever wished for.  It’s given me the gift of a creative outlet for my slightly stale stay-at-home mama brain.  It’s fulfilled my wish  of spending meaningful time with my almost four year old daughter.  It’s also given me a voice, answering a wish that I didn’t even know I had.  And now it’s my turn to use that voice to help Make a Wish Come True for someone else.

Helping make a sick child's wish come true is as easy as writing a letter to Santa, because Macy's will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish for every Santa letter shared. #sp

Make a Wish Come True on National Believe Day

Helping to make someone else’s wish come true this year is easy.  It’s as easy as writing a letter to Santa and dropping it off at Macy’s.  Because for every letter received, Macy’s will donate $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1 million, to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.  And if you drop your letter off in-store or online today on National Believe Day (December 12, 2014), Macy’s will double their donation to $2.

I’m hoping that you’ve heard of Make-A-Wish…  They’re the incredible organization that helps grant the wishes of very sick children all over the US.  Over 14,000 of them this year alone.  And Make-A-Wish Greater San Francisco Bay Area (where we live) is helping more than 300 kids this year. Kids like 4 year old Joysse who was diagnosed with leukemia (luckily in remission now) and has wished for a princess party. Knowing Make-A-Wish, Joysse’s princess party will be something she and her family will remember forever.

This was my daughter’s first year writing a letter to Santa.  And she was really into it.  Or maybe just really into asking Santa for a Lalaloopsy Baby Surprise doll.  It’s essentially a Betsy Wetsy style doll that has charms in the diaper.  Because you know, poop is soooo charming.  Although I ‘m not thrilled with her choice of toy, I am thrilled that she wants to play mama and is all about caretaking these days.

She doesn’t really write yet so I wrote the words for her and then she traced them.  She made sure that she got to lick the envelope on her own, though, because “Santa would know if I didn’t do it all by myself!”  I love the cute thoughts that come out of her mouth these days…  She’s definitely finding her own voice, too.

Help Me Make Joysse’s Wish Come True

Thank you for letting my voice into your world this holiday season.  Will you please help me spread the word and help Make-A-Wish make Joysse’s wish come true?  Because often being granted a wish like a princess party can mean turning the corner to recovery, the biggest wish of all.  All you (and your kiddos) need to do is write Santa a letter…
