Dreaming of a Maker Space

Paint, circuits and slime are starting to take over my house.  They’re all awesome, but I’d really love to have a space to store them and to work on our projects. A Maker Space of my very own.  Oh wait, one that I share with the family, too…  I hope you have fun on my journey to create the perfect space. This post is sponsored by FLOR Carpet Design Squares.

The only available space we have in our house is in the basement laundry room.  It’s about 10’x10′ and all concrete.   It’s appliance central with the washer and dryer, furnace and hot water heater, too.  It’s also our dumping ground storage space, so storage is going to be key.

I decided to start from the ground up… Covering up my ugly, cold, earthquake-cracked laundry room floor with something a lot more inviting.  Warm it up so when I’m building furniture and filling storage, I don’t have to stand on the cold concrete floor.  I’m going with a FLOR Carpet Design Square rug that’s sturdy enough for whatever my daughter and my laundry room can throw at it, but still looks cute.

My girl and I had fun designing rugs the other night at the FLOR store.  They’re having a design contest where you can submit your design and win your very own carpet design square rug.  Click here to learn more.

Stay tuned for the play by play as I remodel my laundry room into a place where the whole family can create!  And you can see our final rug design, too.
