We’ve been building up our library at home recently. Ā Filling it with new reader books hoping to inspire my daughter to read. Ā And filling it with lots of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math) books hoping to inspire her to create. Here are some of my favorites… Ā Keep reading too for this week’s Love to Learn Linky. Ā Affiliate links are included to help you find these amazing STEAM books.
10 Awesome STEAM Activity Books for Kids
STEAM Kids: 50+ Science / Technology / Engineering / Art / Math Hands-On Activities for Kids:Ā Gotta start with the best one… My own :) STEAM Kids is an amazing book packed with a year’s worth of projects that will wow the boredom right out of your kids. Fun stuff like color changing playdough, bottle rockets, and rainbow reactions. Grab a print copy on Amazon or pick up a digital ebook here.
The LEGO Ideas Book: Ā LEGOs, the go-to toy of the engineering set are obviously amazing. Ā But what do you do when you’ve already put together the Death Star 8 times? Ā This book has great ideas that go beyond the box.
Art Lab for Kids: Looking to add new art projects every week? Ā Art Lab gives you 52 amazing process art projects. Got littles? Ā There’s an Art Lab for Preschoolers, too.
Maker Dad: This book has a bunch of fun projects for Daddy-daughter maker sessions. Ā Since I have a daughter and she has a dad, I’m partial to this combo, but even if you’re the mom or grandma, this book has great ideas. Ā And it makes a great Father’s Day gift too!
Bartholomew and the Oobleck: I can’t leave off one of Dr. Seuss’s slightly lesser known books and name giver to an awesome chemistry wonder, oobleck. Ā Want to make a batch of the awesome non-Newtonian fluid? Ā Here’s a recipe.
Sometimes, successful learning is as much about the inspiration and process as it is about the subject. Ā What Do You Do with an Idea? and Rosie Revere, Engineer set out to inspire kids as they try something new. Ā Want to get the kids started? Try this Tinkering Station for Young Engineers inspired by Rosie.

The Art of Tinkering:Ā If you’re looking for reasons to introduce tinkering to your kids, buy this one. Ā Written by the creative brains of San Francisco’s Exploratorium museum, this book is filled with the projects of 150+ people who merge art, science & engineering.Ā Oh and even the cover of the book will help you tinker. Ā It’s printed in conductive ink.
STEAM: Preschool Activities for STEM Enrichment: This ebook gives you some instant gratification for your next STEAM learning session. Ā Authors Jamie Hand and Amanda Boyarshinov use their experience working with kids to provide just the right mix of play and learning for preschoolers.
Bedtime Math: This book is one of my favorites because it reminds us that anytime can be learning time. Ā You can make your kiddo’s next bedtime story a math problem without sacrificing any of the fun.
And here’s a bonus book for you… Ā The Curious Kid’s Science Book by Asia Citro. Ā You’ll have to pre-order it, but the book’s science teacher author Asia Citro sent me an advance copy and oh my… it’s amazing. Ā This will become your go to science fun and learning book with over 100 activities, each with extension ideas and real-life stories of how the kids learned with the activities.
