Mad Scientist Play Dough Mat Printables

Today’s post is a bit of a silly one.  It’s Mad Scientist Play Dough with free printable mats.  Because not all science should be super serious :)  This post contains affiliate links.

Have some silly science fun with these Mad Scientist Play Dough Mat printables made extra fun with glow in the dark play dough.

Mad Scientist Play Dough Mats

Kids can play and learn with these Mad Scientist Play Dough Mats and a batch of glow in the dark play dough. There’s one of the scientist who is super fun to use with a garlic press for crazy Albert Einstein hair.  Then there’s a flask full of bubbling brew.  And finally, a few molecules for some learning while they play play dough.  To get the printable, simply click here and then print.  I finished the mats off sending them through my laminator {affiliate} in some 5 mil pouches {affiliate}.

Glow in the Dark Play Dough Recipe

  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup salt
  • 1 T. cream of tartar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 3 T. vegetable oil
  • 2 oz. Glow in the dark paint {affiliate}
  • Food coloring (optional)
  1. Combine dry ingredients in a large pot and stir until well mixed.
  2. Stir in water and oil until combined.  Add if desired and mix until uniform in color.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until dough is thick.
  4. Remove play dough from the pot and place on a plate or cookie sheet to cool.  Cover with a paper towel or dish cloth so it won’t dry out.
  5. Once dough is cool enough to handle, knead dough until smooth.  Add glow in the dark paint and knead until well mixed.  Rubber gloves make this less messy :)
  6. Once dough reaches room temperature, store in an air tight container or zipper bag.
