So I was thinking, how can I add some sparkly fun to the holidays for my daughter and thought of this fun Mermaid Sequin Christmas Countdown Board. Every day, we can swipe and write the new number of days until Christmas. And you know the best part of it? You can play with all day long. Most advent calendars and countdowns are a one-hit-a-day wonder. You can create the rest of the day too.

1 red & green mermaid sequin pillowcase (16″x16″)
1 11″x 14″ frame
Packing or duct tape
Red glitter chipboard letter stickers

Make Your Mermaid Sequin Christmas Countdown

This really is soooo easy. Because who has time for complicated during the holidays? Here’s a how-to video:

First up, grab your pillowcase and play with it. Why? Because MERMAID SEQUINS. And to think about what direction and color you want the background to be. Typically it’s easiest to write downwards on this fabric. So the background will likely be the color that flips upwards.

Then, grab your frame and remove the glass and carboard. Place the pillowcase, sequins side down on a table and place the cardboard on top. Fold over the excess and tape down securely.

Next, place the covered board into the frame and secure with those little tabby things that come on frames. Anyone know what those are called?

Then flip it over and start spelling out Days Until Christmas in the red glitter chipboard stickers. I love these stickers because they have some depth to them and add interest to projects.

Now It’s Time to Play!!

These sequin pillowcases are so fun. And soothing! I’m pretty sure you’ll find yourself playing with it too in between cups of “I have so much to do!” coffee and epic wrapping sessions.
