10 Ways to Make a Waterfall + $1500 Cash Giveaway!!!

First, let’s talk about waterfalls…  There’s a lot of them in California, Oregon and Washington.  And we tried to stop at as many as possible on our 2,000+ mile road trip this month.  We saw gorgeous falls like the ones in Dunsmuir, CA and the Multnomah Falls just outside of Portland.  There’s something fascinating about the power of all that water dropping off the side of a cliff!

Now that we’re back home, I wanted The Babe to keep learning about waterfall hydrodynamics, so I started digging.  A lot of my blogger friends had some great ideas, but I really wanted one that she could play with in the bathtub.

Bathtub Waterfall

This waterfall is one of those “I found stuff in the trash, now make a toy from it” kind of deals.  All you need is some leftover plastic containers (like bottles or cups or cookie bins), some twine, a pair of scissors and a sharp screw or drill.  A suction cup {affiliate} makes it super easy to hang, too…

I did a few different things to help water flow through the containers:  cut off the bottoms or parts of the sides, took the caps off and punched holes with the screw to make it rainfall style.  A drill would be easier, but I made this during nap time, so used the much quieter screw to punch holes.  After you have all your water holes done, punch a few more with the screw and tie the pieces together with twine.  Twine gives it some fun motion when the water flows.  Plus, have I told you how much I love my striped baker’s twine {affiliate}?  I use it for everything…Although The Babe didn’t help me make this, she loved playing with it (she actually asked to take her bath and go to bed 4 hours ahead of time, she was so intrigued).  She was also full of ideas on how to reconfigure it, so we made it again a few times….  Life is all about experimentation and here’s a few more ways to experiment with water:
